Dear families,
The Department of Education has directed middle schools to return to full-time in-person learning by April 28. Excel Academy Middle Schools will offer all students a full-time in-person learning option this spring. We are in the process of confirming our timeline for starting in-person learning and anticipate opening for full-time in-person learning in late April or early May. When we begin we may be operating with shorter days to orient and acclimate students who opt for in-person learning.
For the remainder of the year, we will continue to honor family choice. Families may choose:
- For their student to continue with remote learning full-time this spring, or
- For their student to return to campus for full-time in-person learning this spring.
Excel Academy is still in the process of finalizing our in-person learning model. Students who return to campus for in-person learning will receive some lessons with an in-person instructor, though they may use their Chromebooks for online learning at times during the day. Further information about the in-person program is available here.
In line with guidance from the Department of Education guidelines, Excel Academy will work to maintain 3 feet of physical distancing between student desks during classes and 6 feet of distancing during lunch and mask breaks. Additionally, students and staff who return to campus for in-person learning will participate in regular on-site COVID testing, and masks will be worn by students and staff throughout the school day. In order to finalize our plans, we need to confirm all of our families’ preference of in-person or remote learning. By March 31st, please complete the form linked above to enroll your child in remote learning or in-person learning for the remainder of this school year. Please complete the form linked at the top of the page for each student enrolled in a middle school campus at Excel Academy.
Excel Academy will grant all requests for learning models received prior to March 31. If you request a change to your child’s learning model after March 31st, there may be a delay of several weeks to be able to grant your request.
