Excel Academy is committed to helping every student who walks into our schools makes significant academic gains during their time at Excel and is prepared for life beyond our walls.

In recent years, Excel Academy has seen a significant increase in the number of students attending our schools who require special education services based on what is outlined in their IEPs or 504 plans, including those requiring sub-separate learning environments. Our Student Support and Learning Support Teams have continued to serve and educate our students who require additional learning support.

The Student Support Team and Learning Support Team work with students, families, and teachers to meet the needs of every student enrolled in our program.

The Learning Support Team

The goal of the Learning Support Team at Excel Academy is to help students overcome academic challenges. The Learning Support Team coordinates interventions for struggling students, such as remedial reading and math programs. The Learning Support Team also coordinates and provides all Special Education services to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Accommodation Plans. Each grade level at each of our schools has at least one full-time Learning Support staff member dedicated to ensuring all students are successful in and out of the classroom.

The Student Support Team

The Student Support Team (SST) coordinates the school’s approach to serving students’ individual emotional, social, and physical health needs with the goal of helping students and their families face and overcome impediments to academic and personal success. The SST works to connect families with resources to promote their child’s education and well-being.

The SST’s goal is to organize school resources to respond to student needs. A second major part of the team’s purpose is around connecting families with resources outside of Excel that can promote their child’s well-being.
