MJ Vuolo Nieves

Associate Dean Students

MJ joined Excel in 2016 as a 7th Grade Learning Specialist at Excel Chelsea and moved into the role as a Culture Fellow, focusing on relationships and positivity in our school culture. In 2019 MJ joined Excel Orient Heights (now Excel Greenway) as the Associate Dean of Students,. Prior to this, MJ taught special education, art, and elementary science in charter schools in Brooklyn, NY, and public schools in Washington, DC. Before working in education, she worked as a freelance graphic designer and very part-time comic book publisher. She studied Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts before pursuing a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from George Washington University. She will always take time to talk about comic books.
