Excel Academy – Greenway: Our New Campus on Bremen Street
Excel Academy’s new 19,500-square-foot facility on Bremen Street will serve as the future home for Excel’s Orient Heights campus. Serving 230 students in grade 5 through 8, the new building will support Excel’s mission for rigorous academics with large classrooms and updated classroom technology, a Community Circle meeting space, and enhanced learning spaces for supporting students with special needs and English Language Learners.
For years, Excel Academy’s Orient Heights campus has occupied a former office building on Saratoga Street in East Boston. This facility has some real drawbacks – small classrooms, inadequate spaces for small-group instruction, cramped space for teachers, no pantry to prepare student meals, and most of all – a lack of windows! Despite the challenges of its current space, Excel Academy – Orient Heights has ranked as one of the best middle schools in Massachusetts. We’re thrilled for our students and teachers to improve upon that success in the future in a more optimal learning environment.
The new facility is adjacent to Excel Academy Charter High School, allowing students to attend grade 5-12 in the heart of East Boston. When the campus moves to its new home, its name will change from Excel Academy – Orient Heights to Excel Academy – Greenway to reflect the geography of our new home.
Construction of the new school building at 375 Bremen Street is currently underway, and expected to be completed in late 2020. We’ll provide photos and updates on this page – please check back here for more information!
