Sarah StuntzDean of Curriculum and Instruction
Sarah joined Excel’s team in 2008 and has been with Excel ever since! Sarah served as the 8th grade English teacher at Excel East Boston from 2008-2014; during her time at East Boston, Sarah played several other roles including Grade Level Chair, teacher coordinator of the Parent Teacher Organization, and Debate/Mock Trial coach. Sarah left to get her M.Ed. from Harvard Graduate School of Education during the 2014-2015 school year, but stayed connected to Excel by collaborating on 8th grade English curriculum and working on projects connected to the launch of Excel’s first high school. Currently, Sarah is thrilled to be part of the team at the Excel Academy Charter High School. In 2015-2016, Sarah was one of the 9th grade English teachers and Instructional Leaders. Beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, Sarah will be the High School’s first Dean of Curriculum and Instruction.
Sarah received her B.A. in English and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia and her M.Ed. in Learning, Teaching, and Instructional Leadership from Harvard. In her spare time, Sarah loves reading good young adult literature (and getting good recommendations from her students!), cooking, and practicing her Spanish.
