Excel Academy-Chelsea is a public charter school that admits students from Chelsea. The school opened in fall 2011 with 56 5th grade students, and over the next four years will enroll 3 additional grades until we reach full enrollment with 224 students, grades 5 through 8. The current 5th graders are:
- 78 percent Latino.
- 78 percent low-income as defined by federal guidelines.
- 100 percent are residents of Chelsea, MA.
- 74 percent speak a language other than English at home.
- 19.6 percent receive Special Education services
