Excel held its first lottery for the 2013-2014 school year for all of its schools on March 13, 2013.
Excel is now accepting applications for the second and thrid lotteries for the 2013-2014 school year. Deadlines are:
2nd Lottery Application DEADLINE: Friday, June 7, 2013 at 4:00PM
2nd Lottery: Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:30AM
3rd Lottery Application DEADLINE: Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 4:00PM
3rd Lottery: Monday, September 23, 2013 at 4:30PM
Excel's application process is simple and we encourage all eligible families to apply.
As a network of public, charter schools, Excel Academy Charter Schools is free of charge to all families. All students are chosen through an open lottery and families must complete a basic application to enter the lottery. Any family who meets the following criteria is eligible to apply:
- The student is a resident of Massachusetts. Note: Preference will be given to siblings of current students and to students from Chelsea and Boston.
- Prior to August of the new school year, the student will have successfully completed 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th grade.
- Excel - East Boston will accept students that have completed 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th grade. Preference will be given to residents of Boston and Chelsea.
- Excel - Chelsea will accept students that have completed 4th, 5th, or 6th grade. Preference will be given to residents of Chelsea.
- Excel - Orient Heights will accept students that have completed 4th or 5th grade. Preference will be given to residents of Boston.
Excel does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, national origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, special needs, English language proficiency, athletic ability, or academic achievement.
